IoT: what exactly is?
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a complex system that brings together smart devices and machines (e.g. Smart robots, intelligent appliances, etc.) able to operate over a network without human intervention being required.
These smart devices and machines are connected to the Internet and are able to perform specific tasks (such as turning on the head system when the temperature drops under a specific level, etc.) automatically without action from a human unless this device is controlled manually from an app on a smartphone.

IoT impacts everyday life in all spectrums from our households, to healthcare system, factories and many others. IoT brings together smart devices and machines able to make our everyday live easier without requiring human actions and improve the production process (e.g. making the production process more efficient, reducing power consumption etc.). How it works?
All the smart devices from IoT systems are wireless connected to the Internet and incorporate different types of sensors, microcontrollers and actuators which convert electrical mechanical parameters (e.g. motion, pressure, temperature, etc.), all these devices works by sending data and receiving commands.
Beside smart devices, IoT systems incorporate databases and gateways linking multiple networks with each other.
